Who we are

Our Focus

HI-ACT will provide a focus for the UK research community, working in close partnership with business, governments, administrations, and the public throughout the UK, to tackle key challenges of hydrogen integration across, sectors, places, and the whole energy system to understand the roles and values of hydrogen and alternative liquid fuels (HALF).

HI-ACT will work towards:

  • Identifying and understanding the interactions and interdependencies between hydrogen and other critical infrastructure such as energy, water and transport.
  • Delivering new approaches to understanding the risks, opportunities, and resultant pathways of integration of HALF
  • Innovative solutions to hydrogen integration from a whole energy systems perspective.
  • Creating a community of best practice around hydrogen and HALF fuel integration, to understand the complexity and equity issues in delivering a transition which protects people and planet.
  • Ensuring the community offers an excellent environment, respecting equality, diversity and inclusion, to mentor and develop the next generation of research leaders
